Park Jisung’s energetic displays of football prowess have been the stuff of legends, finding him worldwide success and propelling him to international stardom. But all this has not been an endeavor purely for Park’s own interest.
Hailing from Korea, Park relentlessly worked his way up to the big leagues, going from the streets of Suwon to stadiums in England. As his professional career took off, he recognized a responsibility to represent not just South Korea where he was from, but the entire Asia region.
Talented and determined, Park started his career with local Japanese club Kyoto Purple Sanga, and then went on to break barriers, uncaging his inner tiger to achieve success as a professional footballer across continents by becoming one of Europe's first Asian stars with PSV Eindhoven. He found further success with Manchester United, where he became the first Asian member of a Champions League-winning team.
Park’s stellar performance on the international stage as a star midfielder for Manchester United, along with notable achievements such as being the first Asian footballer to win the UEFA Champions League title, paved the way for Asian footballers and brought greater attention to the region’s football talent. Not one to forget his roots, Park also led his national team to become the first Asian nation to make it to the World Cup semi-finals.
